NEET exam date 2026 syllabus: a subject-wise revision plan
By NEET Exam Date · · Independent guide, not an official notice
People who search "neet exam date 2026 syllabus" are usually asking two questions at once: when is the exam, and what exactly do I have to study? The answers live in two different documents, and mixing them up leads to wasted months. This guide separates them, then turns the syllabus into a revision plan you can follow.
Exam date and syllabus are different notices
The exam date comes from the National Testing Agency (NTA) in a dated notice. The syllabus is a separate document that lists topics for Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Check the date on the NEET UG exam date page and the syllabus on the NEET syllabus 2026 page, which links to the official PDF on neet.nta.nic.in.
Always check the year printed on the syllabus. When NTA publishes one for a later year, it should be read as a new document, not as an edit of the old one.
Step 1: build a topic list from the official document
Do not start from a coaching summary or a viral topic list. Open the official syllabus and copy its headings into your own checklist. The free NEET syllabus checklist lets you tick topics off and keeps your progress on your own device.
Step 2: split the year across Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Biology carries the largest share of the syllabus, and its content is mostly recall and understanding, which rewards repetition. Physics rewards problem practice, and Chemistry splits into physical, organic and inorganic parts that each need a different method. A simple starting split is to give every subject a fixed weekly block and keep one block free for catching up. The NEET study timetable builds this for your own hours, with rest days included.
Step 3: revise in cycles, not once
First pass: learn the chapter. Second pass: solve questions. Third pass: revisit only what you got wrong. Plan these passes before you begin, because the revision stage is where most schedules collapse. The NEET revision planner spaces your revision sessions backwards from a target date. If the date is not announced yet, pick your own target.
Chemistry spotlight: inorganic exceptions
Inorganic chemistry is full of exceptions to general trends: ionisation energies that dip where you expect a rise, unexpected oxidation states, and compounds that break a bonding rule. They are quick marks once learned and easy to lose otherwise. A good method:
- Keep a single page titled "exceptions" and add one line each time a question surprises you.
- Write the rule first, then the exception, then the reason.
- Test yourself with single-answer questions and read why each wrong option is wrong.
Our original inorganic chemistry exceptions quiz was written for JEE Main revision, but these periodic-table and bonding exceptions overlap heavily with NEET Chemistry. It scores you, lets you retry the questions you missed and has a print mode. It is a learning aid, not an official test, so check anything important against your NCERT textbooks.
Step 4: analyse mocks, do not just take them
A mock test only helps if you study the result. Sort mistakes into "did not know", "careless" and "ran out of time", and fix the largest group first. The mock-test analysis tool does this sort for you.
A weekly rhythm you can start tonight
- Two Biology blocks, one Chemistry block, one Physics block per weekday.
- One mixed question-practice block at the weekend.
- A short Sunday review of the "exceptions" and "mistakes" pages.
Adjust to your own hours; there is no magic split. Nothing here guarantees a score, and the plan is only as good as the consistency behind it.

Frequently asked questions
Where do I find the official NEET syllabus 2026?
NTA publishes it on neet.nta.nic.in as the syllabus for the NEET UG 2026 examination. This site links to that document and does not copy or change it.
Is the NEET exam date the same as the syllabus?
No. The exam date tells you when the test is held. The syllabus tells you what can be asked. They are published in different notices.
How do I revise inorganic chemistry exceptions?
Make a one-page list of exceptions, then test yourself with questions and review every wrong answer. The free quiz on this site includes explanations for each option.
