NEET PG guide
NEET PG exam date, eligibility and pattern
NEET PG is the national entrance test for postgraduate medical courses: MD, MS and PG diplomas. It is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). It is a different exam from NEET UG, with a different authority and website.
Exam date
This site does not show a NEET PG exam date unless an official NBEMS notice states one and we have checked it. Dates for this exam have been postponed and rescheduled before, so look at the official notice board for the current schedule.
Eligibility in brief
- An MBBS degree recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
- Permanent or provisional registration with NMC or a State Medical Council.
- Completion of the compulsory rotating internship by the cut-off date in the bulletin.
Pattern in brief
- Computer-based test.
- 200 multiple choice questions, 800 marks, about 3 hours 30 minutes.
- +4 for a correct answer, -1 for a wrong one, 0 for unattempted.
- Qualifying is by percentile for your category, as set in the bulletin.
After the exam
Seats for PG courses are filled through counselling: the all India quota by MCC and the state quota by each state. The steps are similar to those in the NEET UG counselling guide.
